Community Shop & Cafe

The shop, in Churchill House, is right in the centre of the village and flanked by the 10th Century church, our primary school, pub and the new village hall. The shop has been trading for over 100 years and the Post Office since 1951.
When the owner of the shop retired the future of the shop looked uncertain, but happily in 2009 it launched as a Community Shop. This was thanks to an enthusiastic bunch of village people who organised fundraising and learned, with the assistance of the Plunkett Foundation (link to Plunkett Foundation) how to run a shop! Now we can’t imagine our village without this vibrant hub.
When our post master retired, not wanting this vital community service to be lost, we negotiated with the Post Office – and were granted the licence to run a Community Post Office ourselves!
