Broadhempston’s Energy Conservation Group

We are an informal, non-incorporated group of like minded people interested in reducing wastage, recycling, and conserving energy through small local initiatives.  We have established a successful and regular book exchange which has run for several years, aimed at recycling books (and DvDs when available) to extend their useful lives.  We were responsible for over seven years for the provision of a large wheelie bin in the Square for the collection of drinks cartons and for taking them to recycling centres on a weekly basis, thus avoiding a significant amount of landfill over that period.

We are currently in charge of the book stall at the annual Village Fete which raised a significant amount on our first outing for village funds in 2015.  Also, for the first time at the fete, we initiated a recycling policy so that plastics, tins and rubbish were sorted on site for collection by Teignbridge after the event.

We are keen to explore any initiatives which will reduce waste and unnecessary landfill and promote energy conservation.  Informal meetings are held as required, and all who share similar interests in the preservation of our local environment are welcome. REDUCE, RE-USE, RECYCLE!
